Paul McCartney is said to be almost finished with a brand new solo album and plans to tour the UK once again in 2026, it has been rumoured.
The former Beatle is set to embark on a tour of the United States beginning on September 29th in Palm Desert, California, and will perform a string of dates through until November. However, between then, he has reportedly also nearly completed his first solo album in five years, and is plotting a fresh set of gigs on home shores.
According to The Sun, McCartney has completed almost all of his upcoming album and hopes to have it mastered before the end of the year, half a decade on from his last solo release, McCartney III, back in 2020.
A source told the newspaper: “Paul has been working on the album all year and initially hoped it would be out by the end of this year but as with most things plans change. It’s not quite finished but the majority of the album is done and Paul is really proud of it.”
Following on from Macca’s last tour on this side of the Atlantic at the end of 2024, in which he performed dates in Paris, Madrid, Manchester, and London, the source also revealed that he is planning a live return to his native country, as they said: “As for live shows he’s told his team he wants to tour the UK again, so live gigs next year are also happening.”
It comes as McCartney has also just announced that The Beatles’ fourth instalment of the Anthology project is on the way, which is set to be released as an album on November 21st. Meanwhile, a new episode of their Anthology documentary series, titled ‘Nine’, will also hit Disney+ on November 26th.
No further details on McCartney’s upcoming album or UK tour have yet been officially announced.
